Union of European Banana Republics

More trouble from that fruit again.
Brussels has lost a WTO ruling over plans to shake up the EU’s banana tariff regime with Latin America.
The commissioner for trade, who unlike the fruit in question is not required by the EU to be straight, was less than pleased.
Peter Mandelson said the tariff that had been proposed was a “neutral and fair conversion” and promised to start immediate discussions to resolve the impasse.
Fair and Neutral was what they said the government backed information campaigns for the constitution were. No wonder Latin America doesn’t believe him.
