For the National Interest

What is a political leader to do when he wants to sell the people a lemon that he knows they will not touch with a barge pole?
Poland should go ahead with plans to ratify the European Union's proposed constitution treaty, but via a parliamentary vote and not through a referendum as previously planned, Prime Minister Marek Belka said.
Of course, you just don’t ask the people its so much easier. I hope the Poles refuse to accept that.
