Strange Priorities

I find it hard to believe that a better life for tens of millions of people, better freedom to trade and a new impetus for global growth can be held up by a few people. Europe's Bananas, U.S. Cotton May Determine Fate of WTO Talks Bananas and Cotton are really that important? The USA wants to continue to extort taxpayers and give their cash to rich cotton farmers, meanwhile the EU which cares nothing for all the other farmers destroyed by its agricultural policies, somehow thinks that Carribean banana growers are so worth protecting, they will risk all the benefits from freer trade for them. I know the current crop of useless leaders were antiestablishment rebels in the 1960s, but surely the effects of LSD don't last that long.
