The Indefensible

Our representatives in Hong Kong are fighting hard to defend the indefensible.

The European Union defended itself Thursday from a barrage of criticism at the World Trade Organization meeting, saying its members have already offered generous cuts in aid to farmers and the developing world needed to respond by lowering trade barriers.
It is true that developing countries need to make changes and free up their trade. However, the real distortions to trade are caused by the rich countries. (After all thats where the volume is). Pretending that our worthless concessions are real, is bad enough, but putting the blame on developing countries makes it worse. The EU is as much a bully, as the USA it loves to criticise.
