Over Reach
The European Parliament today has a vote on the Reach Regulations. These regulations are part of the precautionary principle, an idea that life should be completely risk free and that politicians are the best people to guarantee that. A Green MEP whose name eludes me, was seen this morning on TV blaming Reach’s opponents of unemployment blackmail. She is obviously not grown up enough yet to understand that life’s choices are always compromises. Sorry that last sentence was unnecessary as I already said she was a Green. The trade off that its opponents are talking about is the fact that the costs will weigh heavily on the entire industry. Don’t be surprised when chemical manufacturers go bust in large numbers over the coming years.
