Mr Bonde’s Assessment

Jens Peter Bonde the Danish MEP has an assessment of the recent power transfer by the European Court of Justice to the Commission.

The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg has implemented a very important part of the draft and rejected EU Constitution by allowing the European Commission to decide on penal code questions.

So this is not just a power grab, it is one that has been rejected by the voters.

This system was formally rejected by the French and Dutch voters when they returned the proposed Constitution. The European Court has now rejected the referendums and has implemented it anyway.

So proof, as if it were needed that the Court of Justice has as much legitimacy as a Soviet Union KGB Tribunal and just as much attachment to the rule of law and democracy.
