Euro Idealists

As we all know, the French are great idealists when it comes to Europe. Which explains this.

France's conservative government sought to reassure the European Union on Wednesday that its plan to keep certain strategic industries out of foreign hands would not violate EU laws.

It may or may not violate the laws, whilst I suspect it will, I cannot be sure. It will undoubtedly violate the ideals that the great oaf Chirac wheels out every time he wants to criticise other member governments. Its not only a totally stupid thing to do, it is also the height of hypocrisy.
