France Destroyed Fish Stocks

The French are as famous for serving everything in small portions as they are for the wonderful taste of their food. They must like their fish small.

The European Court of Justice has fined France €20 million for allowing fishermen to catch and sell fish that are smaller than what is allowed under EU regulations. In addition France must pay €57.8 million every six months until it complies with Brussels’ rules.

Let hope this makes them think. I doubt it though, the billions of Euros of CAP money coming in makes this fine fairly insignificant.
