Lines in the Sand

Our Dear Leader talks the talk, tough on Europe, tough on the causes of Europe. But when it comes to reality, his historical precedent is less Churchill and more Canute. So:
A senior European Union official called on the Government yesterday to set aside its objections to the creation of a pan-European super prosecutor. Franz-Hermann Brüner, director general of the European Anti-Fraud Office, cast doubt on the Government's pledges that Britain could block the creation of the post.
Holding back the tide are we Tony? Argument going our way? Why is it that all the red lines seem to be lines in the sand. They get washed away with the tide.
