Constitution 'key for EU success'

So says Angela.

Well I hope she is right, because we are still due a referendum, which by this logic, could screw the whole thing up.

Oh come ON!
If it's the same constitution, it won't pass the French and Dutch, so we won't need (or get) a referendum. If it's not the same document, the bastards wll claim their referendum promise only applied to the previous version, and this time there is "nothing constitutional" so we don't need (or get) one.

Those b*stards will do what it takes to get the constitution through. Ireland gave the 'wrong' answer once before - they were asked again till they got it right. France and Holland will roll over too. (France certainly will, I expect Holland to resist a little.)

In Britain, the politicians will shift the arguement and re-frame the question until they pass the thing.

That is - unless the people ever WAKE UP!

"unless the people ever WAKE UP! "

People normally wake up when they feel the adverse consequences.

yet another socialist constitution no doubt. The sooner we leave, the better.

Beachhutman, I also fear there will be no referendum. The EU Constitution will be abreviated and recycled as a Treaty. Only the Irish will get a vote. And they will vote yes.
Francesucks, I wish it were so but opinion polling suggests that even the old constitutional text would now secure a yes vote in the Netherlands. Whatever people are saying on the street. It's all academic....
