German Post Mortem
This week there will be whole forests of trees chopped so as to print miles of columns about the German election.
Why bother with the rest when there is Mark Steyn
But the election results in Germany and elsewhere suggest that, in fact, nothing makes a citizen more selfish than lavish welfare and that once he's enjoying the fruits thereof he couldn't give a hoot about the broader societal interest.
It has always been a mystery to me why wishing to keep your own money was regarded as selfish, whereas wishing to spend someone elses is not.
But then I haven't a chance of understanding, I am not a Socail Democrat.
