EU driving licence

A common driving licence format for all EU countries is one of those things that makes perfect sense until it actually happens.
The proposed licence includes bureaucratic medical tests, mandatory renewals of licences and unnecessary regulation for motorcyclists.
Rather than just harmonise the format, they have to bring to bear the strictest rules in the EU and apply them to everyone. Conservative MEP Philip Bradbourn sees it like this:
Overall however, this legislation is yet another example of an anti-road agenda from the Commission which will only have a negative impact on British motorists while doing nothing to improve road safety.
I am inclined to agree.
