In our Hands
The future of our nation is in our hands. The bill for the referendum has been passed in the commons, with a debate that paves the way for next years campaign. The three main parties laid out their stalls as follows:
Labour: Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said that rejecting the constitution would prompt a crisis. Conservative: Shadow foreign secretary Michael Ancram said the treaty was a step closer to a European superstate. Liberal Democrat: Sir Menzies Campbell said the constitution was "long overdue and defines the powers and responsibilities of the EU and of national parliaments".Correct me if you understand differently but it sounds to me like this: The Government is arguing that whether we want it or not, we have no choice, the Conservatives are clearly against and the Lib Dems are as usual in Cloud EU land.
