The Cost of Kids

I know that Europe is suffering from falling birth rates and that better child care is seen as a major tool to combat it, but this is ridiculous.
European Union civil servants are building a subsidised creche for their children where places will cost more than £20,000 a year - almost as much as fees at Eton.
Not that the money will buy them anything special.
"The standards are not Hilton Hotel, you won't find any gold taps, we have nothing to hide. We are simply following Belgian national standards."
The taps may not be Gold Plated, but I bet the regulations will be.
