Don’t Give an Inch

It may be illogical and difficult to use, but we love it and we don’t wish to give it up for the sake of the EU.
Britain is coming under pressure from the European Commission to say when it will honour its 25-year-old promise to go fully metric, converting miles to kilometres and pints to litres.
If a company in Britain wishes to do business in Europe, it obviously needs to sell metric goods. He who pays the piper and all that. On the other hand, if a Granny in Sunderland wishes to buy apples by the pound, its really nobody else’s business. There is no earthly reason why we should be forced to drink beer by the litre or get speeding tickets for doing too many Km per hour. Compared to the millions we are starving to death with our Agricultural system, metric – imperial arguments seem arcane and unimportant. However they neatly illustrate the stupidity and arrogance of Brussels and it supporters. If its different shoot it. Difference is to be avoided at all costs. Logic, efficiency, individual rights are irrelevant. I say we don’t give them an inch.
